Pastoral Pause

After fifteen years of church ministry, friends and family members began to notice that I'd lost the spark and passion for ministry I once had. I was headed toward burnout when another pastor suggested I consider taking a renewal leave.  At first, I resisted the idea--planning time away from the pulpit, convincing church leaders it was necessary, and finding funds to pay for my leave the idea all seemed like insurmountable obstacles.  I ended up taking the leave, and it restored my soul and changed the course of my ministry.

If you're an overworked and worn out pastor, the challenge of developing plans for their renewal leave can be the one thing stopping you from taking renewal leave.  Pastoral Pause:  Planning Your Renewal Leave helps guide you through that decision-making process.  Some chapters contain stories and insights from my experience to spark your imagination as you plan your own renewal leave.  Others focus on practical tips like finding funds, creating a budget, and how to decide what to include or leave out of your renewal leave plans.

If you're a pastor who needs spiritual renewal, chances are good that you'll also need to plan your own renewal leave and find a way to pay for it.  I wrote Pastoral Pause:  Planning Your Renewal Leave to help you do exactly that!
